Lu Lou’s Lakeside Grill

A website for a walk-up grill on the beach at Wood Lake in Oyama. Built so the menu, the hours and the directions are what people find first, on a phone, before they get in the car.

Lu Lou’s Lakeside Grill is a counter-service grill on the sand at Wood Lake in Oyama, Lake Country. There are no reservations; people order at the window. I built a site that answers the questions people have before the drive: what is on the menu, what it costs, when it is open and how to get there. I also run their social media and local SEO.

The brief

A beach grill does not need a booking system. It needs to answer four questions fast: are they open, what do they serve, what does it cost, and how do I get there. Most people asking are on a phone, and plenty are already near the lake, on a bike on the rail trail or in a boat. The site had to put those answers on the first screen and still feel like the place itself. It also needed to show up for the many ways people search for food around Oyama, Wood Lake, Kalamalka Lake and Lake Country.

How I built it

  • 01Open or closed, on the first screen. The hero shows whether the grill is open right now and until when, with the menu and a tappable phone number beside it. Hours, getting there and how ordering works sit right under it.
  • 02The full menu, with prices. Every item is listed with its price, and the menu filters by under $10, $10 to $14, vegetarian and soft-serve. The Monday pizza and ice cream menu is called out, so nobody drives over expecting a burger.
  • 03Directions for the way people actually arrive. The Find Us page covers car, bike, boat and paddleboard, with parking notes, the bike rack for the rail trail, and one-tap directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze. Payment types and the no-reservations policy are on the same page.
  • 04Local guides that answer real searches. Pages for a day trip to Oyama, food on the Okanagan Rail Trail, the Wood Lake and Kalamalka beaches, and where to eat near Kelowna airport give the grill something useful to show up for beyond its own name. A short journal covers things like parking in Oyama and what is open on a Monday.
  • 05A contact form that sorts itself. It asks what the message is about, such as a group order of ten or more, press, or feedback, so the owners know what they are answering before they reply. Customers also have their own page for leaving a review.
  • 06Social and the site working together. I run their Instagram and Facebook, and the homepage shows recent reels, so the site always looks current in the middle of the season. Structured data describes the restaurant, its menu and its common questions to search engines.

The outcome

Someone deciding where to eat on a lake day can see what is open, what it costs and how to get there in a few taps, then just show up. Questions that would otherwise be phone calls are answered on the page, and the phone number is there for the ones that are not.

The local guides give the site a reason to appear for searches about Oyama and the lakes, not only for the grill’s name, and the social accounts feed straight back into it. These are features of the work. I am not publishing a traffic or sales increase without measured results.
