Website maintenance plans.
Website maintenance is the ongoing work that keeps a site online, secure, backed up and up to date after launch. I offer it as three care plans, from $79 to $249 a month, for the custom sites I build. Every plan covers hosting, security updates, backups and uptime checks, with a set amount of content edits each month. Care is optional. You own the site and can host it yourself.
What each care plan covers
- Essential, $79 a month
- Hosting, security updates, backups, uptime checks, and up to 30 minutes of content edits each month.
- Active, $149 a month
- Everything in Essential, with up to one hour of content edits each month and a monthly site check.
- Priority, $249 a month
- Everything in Active, with up to two hours of content edits each month and priority scheduling.
- What counts as an edit
- Edit time covers changes to existing content, like text, photos, prices and hours. It doesn't cover new features, and it doesn't roll over. Additional work is $80 an hour, approved first.
- Your domain
- Standard domain renewal is included for a domain managed with your care plan. Premium domains and transfers are quoted separately.
- Bigger changes
- New pages, integrations and larger changes are quoted separately before any work starts. All prices are CAD, plus applicable GST/HST.
Who owns the site
You own the paid-for website, and your domain should be registered in your name. Care is a separate decision from ownership. If you stop paying for care, you keep the site and can move it to hosting of your choice, with any migration work scoped separately. Who owns your website, domain and hosting covers what to check before you sign with anyone.
My sites are custom-coded rather than built on a page builder, so maintenance is mostly hosting, security updates, backups, making sure the site stays up, and the content edits you send me. You text or email the change, and I make it.
Have a site someone else built? Care plans are set up for the sites I build. For a site built elsewhere, I look at it first, and fixes and updates are billed at $80 an hour, approved first. If it needs more than patching, I'll tell you whether a website redesign makes more sense.
Maintenance keeps the site healthy. It isn't SEO. If you want more search traffic, local SEO is a separate monthly scope.
