How to Choose an SEO Company in Kelowna: What to Ask Before You Sign

The questions to ask a Kelowna SEO company, the answers that should worry you, and what a fair monthly plan looks like before you sign.

Short answer

Pick the Kelowna SEO company that can show you exactly what they will do each month, report on calls and forms instead of just rankings, and leave every account in your name. Ask who does the work, what the first ninety days look like, and how you can leave. Walk away from guaranteed rankings, long lock-in contracts and anyone who can’t explain their work in plain words. With Elliot Digital, SEO is $750 to $1,900 a month plus $1,000 setup.

Search “best SEO company Kelowna” and you get a page of agencies that all say the same thing. They all rank businesses, they all get results, and they all have a free audit. The difference only shows up months later, when you look at what you paid for and what came back. I run an SEO service in the Okanagan, so read this knowing that. These are the questions I’d ask if I were hiring someone, and I’d expect any company worth hiring to answer them easily, me included.

Start with what they’ll do each month

Good SEO for a local business is a list of real jobs: keeping your Google Business Profile complete and active, improving the pages for the services you want more of, fixing technical problems that stop Google reading the site, keeping your business details the same everywhere, and adding useful content where it’s missing. Ask for that list in writing. If the answer is “we optimize your site” with nothing underneath it, you can’t check whether the work happened.

The questions to ask

Bring the same list to every company so you can compare answers side by side.

QuestionA straight answer sounds like
Who actually does the work?A name, and who you’ll talk to each month
What happens in the first 90 days?A short list of specific fixes and pages, in order
How do you report results?Calls, form fills and searches, not just a ranking chart
Whose name are the accounts in?Yours: Google Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console
How long is the contract?Month to month, or a short term with a clear exit
What does it cost, all in?A monthly figure, any setup fee, and what’s extra
Have you worked in my kind of business?Real examples you can look up, or an honest no

Red flags worth walking away from

A guarantee of first page rankings or a set number of leads. Nobody controls Google, so a guarantee means someone is guessing or selling something else. A contract that locks you in for a year with no way out. Reports full of charts that never mention a phone call. Links bought in bulk from sites that have nothing to do with your business, which can hurt more than help. An agency that wants your Google Business Profile or website accounts in its own name. And pressure to sign before you’ve had time to compare.

Local or not?

Your SEO company doesn’t have to be in Kelowna, but it helps if they know the market. Kelowna searches are more crowded than Vernon, Lake Country or West Kelowna, and the towns behave differently. A company that knows that will plan your pages and your Business Profile around where your customers actually are. I work from Lake Country and have separate pages for each Okanagan town for exactly that reason.

What it should cost

Local SEO in the Okanagan usually runs from a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars a month, depending on how many services and areas you need covered. Very cheap plans often mean automated reports and little real work. Very expensive plans should come with a long, specific list of what’s included. I break the numbers down in how much SEO costs in Kelowna.

How I answer these

You deal with me directly. My SEO plans are $750, $1,200 or $1,900 a month plus a one-time $1,000 setup, CAD plus applicable GST/HST. Every plan starts with a written scope listing the monthly work. Your Google Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console stay in your name. Monthly reports show the searches you appear for and the enquiries they bring. The plans are on the packages page, and the details are on my Kelowna SEO page.

Do the free part first

Before you pay anyone, make sure your Google Business Profile is complete, with real photos and your services listed. A lot of local businesses skip this, and it costs nothing. My local SEO checklist walks through it. If you’re still deciding whether SEO is worth it at all, read is SEO worth it for a local service business.

Next step

Take this list into every conversation, including one with me. Book a free thirty minute call, tell me your services and where your work comes from now, and I’ll tell you straight what I’d do first, or whether you need SEO yet.

Common questions

How do I choose an SEO company in Kelowna?

Ask who does the work, what they’ll do in the first ninety days, how they report on calls and forms, whose name the accounts are in, and how long the contract runs. Compare the answers in writing.

How much does SEO cost in Kelowna?

Local SEO usually runs from a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars a month. With Elliot Digital it is $750 to $1,900 a month plus a $1,000 setup, CAD plus applicable GST/HST.

Is it a red flag if an SEO company guarantees rankings?

Yes. No one controls Google’s results. A good company can explain the work it will do and how it will measure enquiries, but it can’t honestly promise a position.

Should my SEO company own my Google Business Profile?

No. Your Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console should be in your name. An agency can be added as a manager and removed later.

Does my SEO company need to be in Kelowna?

No, but it helps if they know the Okanagan market and how Kelowna differs from Vernon, West Kelowna and Lake Country.
