GEO is the emerging discipline of getting your site referenced inside AI-generated answers. When someone asks ChatGPT "who does web design in Kelowna," the answer is built from a small set of trusted sources — being one of those sources is the new top-of-funnel.
GEO overlaps with classic SEO but emphasizes different things: explicit Q&A content (FAQ pages), authoritative citations from named experts, structured data, and clean prose that an LLM can quote without paraphrasing into nonsense.
It's early — best practices are still being figured out. The safe bet is to write content that directly answers specific questions in plain language, with the business name, location, and price-point stated explicitly.
